Hush Hush Baby (Act I) is the first chapter of Hamburger Community’s four-act journey into speculative futures, developed by Hamburger Community. The project emerges from an ongoing dialogue around storytelling and worldbuilding as shared methodologies, exploring themes such as passivity and activation, artisthood as a socio-economic condition, warfare, hybridity, and processes of future-making.

In this first act, participants are invited into an immersive, soft environment that functions as a temporary refuge. Through lullabies, gentle scenography, and collective presence, the work reflects on comfort as both an affective state and a critical lens. The installation-performance creates a space to consider what the body retains when allowed to rest, and how care, vulnerability, and sensory experience can open different modes of attention.

The broader four-act structure is conceived as an unfolding narrative framework that allows each chapter to develop with focus while inviting audiences to participate in shaping what comes next. Each act operates as a speculative scenario, proposing a multi-directional understanding of time as a stream of knowledge, memory, and possibility rather than a linear progression.
