A/M #4: The low hum of inner workings

Location: Kunstpodium T

Date:  03 Apr - 27 Apr.

The low hum of inner workings is a translation of the body beyond biological entity. This body is a living archive, layers of growth and decay in constant flux. Each day, skin is shed and renewed, hair grows and tangles with time. The slow drip of milk, blood, tears and sweat punctuate each passing moment. Inside this body, memory ferments. It lingers in the weight of our limbs, in the way breath slows at night, in the warmth we leave behind on a chair, a bed, on another person’s skin.

An inhale and an exhale. The low hum of inner workings.

This space moves with us. It expands and contracts like a lung, responding to presence. This body is a site of ritual—braiding hair, painting symbols on her skin, whispering songs into the wind. Every gesture translates something deeper, an attempt to preserve, to connect, to exist beyond the self.

Over the past six months, five interdisciplinary artists have joined forces to build a space which has a life of its own, a collective body as a place to never be alone. With works by Gamze Öztürk, Renske de Jong , Alicia Kemp, Tirza Mafi and Anna Reutinger.

"Hands-o Computer says "Home": A Fabric of Homes

Live Performance and Interactive Installation

On 26(VIP)-27-28-29 of September 2024 at Het Slotervaart

Amsterdam, The Netherlands

A 4-day interactive installation and ongoing live performance in Stand 9A.12!!

Computer says “Home”

The project combines the bureaucratic alienation, the papieren werkelijkheid, and the lived experiences of home. We understand “computer says” as a parody of “Computer says no” form of bureaucratic system to answer whether people are informed by the facts of their whereabouts.

A Fabric of Homes

The project makes the relation to our social surroundings visible by stitching together all the conversations we have with our audience. We will ask them to write down their relation to home. Afterwards, a performer will work with the written text, which will be decomposed as material for the installation. Another performer will stitch the texts of the audience together to create a large “fabric” with a shape of a tent. By doing so, we create a large network of people that socially interact over the period of the event. To make visible the relation of art and place, by the social network of people coming to visit the venue.
